Knife Found in Drain Pipe Near Scene of Fight

No one was reportedly injured in the altercation involving juveniles on Dowdy Road in Oconee County, Ga., last Wednesday afternoon.

A knife was found in a drain pipe and a gun was rumored to have been flashed during a fight Wednesday afternoon in Oconee County, but no one was reportedly harmed during the altercation.

According to an incident report, a sheriff's deputy was called to an address in the 1200 block of Dowdy Road around 4:15 p.m. on Jan. 16.  As he arrived on the scene, he saw "two large groups of people running in separate directions, but never saw any actual fighting."

The deputy interviewed the parties involved who said the fight started after one juvenile said something about another juvenile's mother.

A girl said she saw a knife during the fight, which was later found in a nearby drain pipe, according to the report.

The deputy notes that the girl changed her story a couple of times, so he was unable to determine to whom the knife belonged.

Other witnesses said they saw a male in a dark coat with a handgun during the fight, but neither a person matching that description nor a gun were found, the deputy said.

"Due to several different accounts of what happened no arrests were made and all parties involved were advised of the [temporary protective order] and warrant process," the deputy wrote in the report.
