Indictment Returned in Case Involving Printing of Child Porn at Oconee Library
Budge Earl Williams has been indicted on two counts of criminal attempt to commit the crime of sexual exploitation of a child.
An Oconee County grand jury has handed down an indictment against Budge Earl Williams, 70, of Fowler Mill Road, on two counts of criminal attempt to commit the crime of sexual exploitation of a child. The indictment was filed with the Clerk of Superior Court on Aug. 21.
The indictment alleges Williams, while using a computer at the Oconee County Library on Aug. 1, printed two images from the internet "that depicted a minor child under the age of 18 years engaged in sexually explicit conduct."
According to previous reports, library patrons saw the images on the computer screen and complained to employees who notified police.
Williams has been in the Oconee County Jail since his Aug. 6 arrest by Watkinsville police. Authorities have said he is being held for a violation of federal probation from an original charge of a weapons violation.
Criminal indictments are not evidence of guilt; they are only charges. Defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
