The countdown in on!

In one week from today, patriotic spectators will make their way to Oconee Veterans Park to celebrate America's independence at the first-ever Oconee July 4th Spectacular.

The event is sponsored by the Ellis Pain Center and co-sponsored by The Oconee Enterprise and Rotary Club of Oconee County.

There will be food, fireworks, kids activities, fireworks, a parade, fireworks...did we mention fireworks? 

But before you put on your reds, whites, and blues, there is some important information that the Oconee County Parks and Recreation Department wants you to know.

Where to park

Designated parking for those who want to enjoy all of the evening's activities, which start at 6:30 p.m., will be at Oconee Veterans Park and Herman C. Michael Park.

Traffic flow will be directed by Sheriff's deputies and parking
attendants, who will be on hand at both parks.  Attendees must cross Hog Mountain Road/Ga 53 only in the path controlled by deputies.

There are a number of ways to keep up with the latest updates on the evening of the event. Tune to WMSL 88.9 FM, text “Parking” to 706-395-4393 or call 706-769-2965 to get up-to-the-minute parking, traffic flow and event information.

Just to see the fireworks

For those who only want to see the night's sky lit up in all of the colors of the rainbow, parking lots will be open at the Oconee County Civic Center and Oconee County High School.

Listen to the music that will accompany the display by turning your car radio to WMSL 88.9 FM.

For safety, no parking will be permitted on the shoulder of Hog Mountain Road/Ga 53.

As you leave

Event-goers are asked to please be patient as they exit. Some vehicles will be detoured to exit to Hodges Mill Road, which is north of Veterans Park and detoured down Elder Road which runs south of Herman C. Michael Park.
