Deal Calls Special Election for House District 113

The Governor's announcement followed Hank Huckaby's resignation from the Georgia House of Representatives on Friday.

The following is a news release from the Office of the Governor:

Gov. Nathan Deal today called a June 21 special election for House District 113, which includes all of Oconee County and portions of Oglethorpe, Clarke and Morgan counties.

The vacancy arose upon the resignation of Hank Huckaby, whom the Board of Regents selected to serve as chancellor of the University System of Georgia. Huckaby served as one of the governor’s three floor leaders in the House.

Jurisdiction for the election now moves to Secretary of State Brian Kemp.

Chuck Williams will make a great candidate to Represent Oconee county with the departure of Representative Huckaby.

This district needs a congressman with a history and plan of fiscal responsibility. Mr. Alexander has such a track record and plan. Operating a successful law firm in this area for over 40 years, he has remained in touch with the pulse of this district and has a clear vision of the needs of this community to be represented on the House floor. Dedication to improving education and law enforcement, and promoting fiscally responsible, conservative values separate him from the other candidate in this election.
