Children Caught Shoplifting Jewelry from Kohl's

Store security reports two kids, ages 12 and 14, stuffed the items into a purse.

Oconee County deputies Sunday were called to Kohl's department store on Epps Bridge Parkway where a security guard reported that he witnessed two children, ages 12 and 14, shoplifting.

According to an incident report, the security guard says he saw the two kids remove jewelry from packages, conceal it in a purse and attempt to leave without paying.

The children's grandmother, who was shopping in the store at the time, told deputies she didn't know about her grandchildren's actions.

Due to store policy, the guard wished to pursue charges only against the 14-year-old. A deputy spoke with a representative of Juvenile Justice who advised both children could leave with the grandmother.
