UPDATED: Barrow and Oconee Deputies Chasing Suspect in Woods off 316 and Barber Creek

The hunt for the suspect continues in the area of Barber Creek in Statham.

 

UPDATED AS OF 1:40 P.M. 

The suspect is described as a black male, about 5-foot-11, 160 to 170 pounds, with dreadlocks mid-way to his back wearing jeans, an oversized white shirt and black shoes. 

Deputies with the Barrow County Sheriff's Office are being assisted with the chase by the Oconee County Sheriff's Office, the Winder Police Department and Statham Police Department

Sheriff Jud Smith said a deputy attempted to pull the suspect's vehicle over at Ga. Highway 316 and Ga. Highway 211 and when the vehicle stopped, the man fled. Law enforcement is tracking the suspect, identified as Robert Lewis Mayweather Jr., in the area of Barber Creek Road in Statham. 

Smith said the suspect is wanted in connection with a burglary and may be in possession of a firearm that was stolen in Winder this morning. Deputies also found drugs and drug paraphernalia in the suspect's vehicle.

The Oconee County Sheriff's Office is alerting the public that deputies with the Barrow County Sheriff's Office are chasing a suspect in the woods near Ga. Highway 316 and Barber Creek Road.
