An Evening of Food & Music

The Sixth Annual Taste of Oconee – Saturday, Jan 28 presents a match made in heaven!

With more than 20 restaurant and drink vendors participating, A Taste of Oconee is expecting another “sell-out” year!  According to Publicity Chair Eleanor Cotton, ticket sales have been very good already and Saturday’s event should sell-out the 1,000 tickets which will fill up the venue.

The sixth annual event is Saturday, Jan 28 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Oconee County Civic Center. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $20 at Oconee Middle School, at the Civic Center and at the Chamber of Commerce. You may purchase them at the door for $25.

According to Cotton, this will be “one delicious and enjoyable event!”  Event Chair Karen Joyce and Vendor Chair Maria Twedt have put together a great array of tastings for the evening. Among those offering the sample portions will be: The Big Easy, Big Kahuna Catering, Bread for Life, Brett’s Casual American, Chops & Hops, Dominicks, Edible Arrangements, Fox’s Pizza, Gnat’s Landing, Jittery Joes, KEBA Spitfire Grill, Kumquat Mae Bakery, Locos Grill, Longhorn Steakhouse, Marty’s at Midday, Menchies, The Morning Glory, Piccolo Italian Steak House, Scoops, Yesterday Café, and Your Pie. Drinks are provided by Coca-Cola and there will be tea provided by ChickfilA.

The musical part of the evening will be performanced by the talented students in the “multiple award-winning music program at Oconee County Middle School.” Monies raised by the event will go towards the music program at the school. This year, the chorus will perform on the hour in the Atrium; the band will play on the half hour in the Banquet Hall.

Organizers have put together a great fine arts raffle which will include art, jewelry, and beautiful handcrafted art.
There will be voting for People’s Choice and Kid’s Choice; the winner will be announced at the end of the evening.
