The OCHS Swimming and Diving team kicked off the 2012-2013 season with an impressive overall first place finish among fourteen teams at the UGA Gabrielsen Natatorium on Saturday.  In the men’s competition, OCHS finished first with state qualifying times achieved by Wil Masters in the 200 IM and 500 freestyle, Jacob Wiltse in the 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke, Michael Materne in both the 200 and 500 freestyle, Jackson Blankenship in the 50 freestyle, and both Britt and Jack Edelen in the 1 meter diving.  The 200 medley relay of Justin Sharma, Wil Masters, Michael Materne, and Jacob Wiltse; the ‘A’ 200 freestyle relay of Wil Masters, Michael Materne, Jackson Blankenship, and Jacob Wiltse; the ‘B’ 200 freestyle relay of Forest Newton, Jon McGahee, Jonathan Fox, and Cullen Goss; and the 400 freestyle relay of Cullen Goss, Jon McGahee, Forest Newton, and Jackson Blankenship all swam state qualifying times.

In the women’s competition, OCHS finished second with state qualifying times accomplished by Caroline McElhannon in the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke, Emily Eisenman in the 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke, and Annie Williamson in both the 50 and 100 freestyle.  Both the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays of Annie Williamson, Caroline McElhannon, Gabbie Filipov, and Emily Eisenman also swam state qualifying times.
