Zachary Carlton, a senior at Oconee County High School, was recently named a Commended Student in the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program. Commended students are being recognized for the exceptional academic promise demonstrated by their outstanding performance on the 2011 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) last October. About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized. Commended Students placed among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who took the 2011 PSAT. Zachary is the son of Mr. Roger Carlton of Watkinsville and Mrs. Denise Brown of Watkinsville.
