Free Beginning Bridge Lesson January 8 in Watkinsville
Debbie Wagner, a founding member of The Fred Tompkins Memorial Duplicate Bridge Club, will give a free beginning bridge lesson from 10 a.m. – noon on Tuesday, January 8, at the Watkinsville Community Center at 191 VFW Drive.
“We want to encourage anyone who has wanted to learn to come,” she said. “If you’ve never played but always wanted to learn, this is the class for you.”
Wagner will cover the basics for an hour and then there will be an hour of play.
Classes will be offered each Tuesday at 10 a.m. for 10 weeks. The first class is free. Subsequent classes are $5. A list of subjects to be covered in future classes will be available. No commitment is required and students can walk away after the first class or come back and take other classes on a pay as you go basis.
Fred’s Club is a member of the American Contract Bridge League and hosts weekly bridge games on Tuesdays and Fridays at 1 p.m. Debbie Wagner is a life master and a member of the board.
“She’s one of the best teachers we have and is very committed to education and sharing her love of bridge,” said Judy Bailie, club manager.
