After beginning training at Megalodon Gym in Watkinsville in August, Bowen enters his first Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament, Lutador Junior Open, held on Saturday, October 13 at Campbell High School in Smyrna, Georgia. Bowen placed 4th in the Beginners White-Featherweight Gi division in the 6-8 age group and 2nd place in the same no-gi division.
