Athens Regional Earns Gold Seal Accreditation for Breast MRI

  • December 16, 2011

After a recent review by the American College of Radiology, Athens Regional Medical Center was awarded a three-year term of accreditation in breast magnetic resonance imaging. The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety.

”This accreditation once again shows the commitment of Athens Regional Medical Center’s Imaging Services to provide the very best equipment, staff and employees to care for the patients that choose us as their provider of quality imaging care,” said Bill Ashley, director of Radiology at ARMC in a released statement.

According to a news release, MRI of the breast offers valuable information about many breast conditions that may not be obtained by other imaging modalities, such as mammogram or ultrasound.

Athens Regional is also ACR accredited in Computed Tomography (CT), Positron Emission Tomography (PET), Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound and Mammography, the release stated.
